Michal Rosiak - Flute

Michal Rosiak received his graduate degree in music performance from Academy of Music in Katowice and he has extensive experience in teaching, performance & composition.  A recent inductee into the Australian music scene, he has spent most of his career to date in Europe where he has won many accolades for his performance, compositions & teaching, as well as being principal Flautist with Opole Philharmonic Orchestra in Poland, member of ESPRIT Flute Trio and a flute teacher in Chopin State School of Music in Opole. 

He has attended masterclasses with Peter Lloyd, Rien de Reede, Marina Piccinini, Andras Adorjan, Kaspar Zehnder, Bonita Boyd, Ruth Morley and Geoffrey Collins. 
Michal has been a prizewinner of various competitions including the International Festival for Young Musicians in Neerpelt / Belgium ( 1st Prize summa cum laude ), the Polish Contest for Chamber Music in Wroclaw / Poland, the 2nd & 3rd National Contest for Young Composers in Tarnow / Poland, the scholarship of the Polish Ministry of Culture and the All Flutes Plus London scholarship. 
Michal has also performed as a soloist with the Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra, Capella Cracoviensis, Heidelberger Kammerorchester and Chamber Philharmonia Cologne.  
He has been a committee member of the South Australian Flute Society, an examiner of the Australian Music Examination Board for SA/NT and a flute teacher in several schools in Adelaide.
 
He also has been a conductor and a flute tutor for the South Australian State Music Camp and also an artistic director of Barossa Flute Festival in 2008. He performed at the Sydney Flute Festival in 2007, Australian Flute Festival in Adelaide in 2009 as well as recently at the Australian Flute Festival in Canberra where his music has also been presented. His composition “Scherzo” has been a compulsory piece for the ensemble competition at the Australian Flute Festival in Adelaide. 
 
He is currently a flautist with the Australian Army Band Brisbane as well as a casual player with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra . 
 
His music has been performed in Poland, Germany, Great Britain, Switzerland, Belgium, Russia, United States, New Zealand and Australia and has also been broadcast by ABC Classic.
